New Mexico’s Normal

Every mountain has a profile, and the profile of the Sandia mountains to the East of Albuquerque reminiscent of a Gaussian curve, also called a bell curve or normal distribution. The mathematical interpretation of “normal” is loosely related to the concept of regular or non-extreme behavior, so the logo represents a visual and linguistic double entendre. A parameter σ (sigma) defines the scale or standard deviation of a Gaussian curve.

The “neonormal” concept

Neonormal (Neo Normal or New Normal) addresses a process that started with moveable type printing press around 1450. The printing press allowed information to flow accurately and rapidly throughout society, kicking off a renaissance in literature, science, engineering, and ultimately the invention of the internet.

We now find ourselves in an era where much of the information is inaccurate and intended for deception or illegal activities. To avoid chaos, the world will need new (neo) normals of behavior.

Neonormal is currently directed towards voting in New Mexico, where voters must make political decisions while immersed in a sea of dubious information. Neonormal seeks to report key, high-leverage misinformation that would be hard to see otherwise.
